Takai joined by Sen. Schatz, Sen. Hirono, and Congresswoman Gabbard to emphasize party unity
HONOLULU (September 7, 2014) – Mark Takai, the Democratic Nominee for Hawaii’s First Congressional District, officially opened his new campaign headquarters for the general election yesterday in Ward Warehouse on the second floor next to Kincaid’s Restaurant. Over 300 attendees were present for the opening ceremonies.
Joining Mark were Senators Brian Schatz and Mazie Hirono, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Gubernatorial Democratic Nominee David Ige, and State Representative Della Au Belatti.
“Mark Takai will be a great addition to the Congressional delegation. Throughout his years in the legislature, he’s demonstrated leadership on education, military affairs, and community affairs. He can count on me, and together we will be successful,” Sen. Schatz said.
“Mark has been a tireless advocate for Hawaii and we have worked together on multiple issues like impact aid. It’s why we need him as part of our Hawaii federal delegation and I throw my full support behind him,” Sen. Hirono stated.
“We are in this fight, shoulder to shoulder, because it’s so important,” Congresswoman Gabbard said.
“I am incredibly thankful for everyone who made today a reality. It will be critical for democrats to come together for the general election so that we can elect candidates who truly embody the core democratic values of Hawaii,” Takai concluded.
