Momentum building for Democratic Congressional nominee
HONOLULU (October 15, 2014) – State Rep. Mark Takai followed up an overwhelming primary victory by reporting $566,363.37 taken in during the third quarter (July-October) – over $531,569.40 coming in after the July 20 Pre-Primary report.
“The response has been incredible. Our grassroots support carried us through the primary, and we’ve only built on that momentum,” Takai said.
Out of the 1,399 donations Takai received, 981 (70%) were $200 or less. Takai raised more this past quarter than the last three combined. In fact, he raised more in the month of September ($310,567.59) then he had in any previous quarter.
“This campaign is more than just dollars and cents, we are a real team from our donors to our volunteers knocking doors and sign waving. Together, we will continue to work hard to bring our message to the voters of Hawaii,” Takai said.
Takai has raised more than $1.2 million for the 2014 cycle, having overcome a hotly contested seven-way primary – but is not resting on his laurels.
“At the end of the day, people know that retirement security, equal pay for equal work, and tax cuts for working families are what I stand for. Our support comes from the families, seniors, and students that I am working hard to represent,” Takai said.
