Takai ready to face Charles Djou in November
HONOLULU (August 10, 2014) – State Representative Mark Takai emerged victorious yesterday in the crowded Democratic primary race for Hawaii’s First Congressional district. In the weeks leading up to the primary, Takai had been building on a growing momentum that carried him to victory on August 9th.
“I am incredibly honored to be the Democratic Nominee for Hawaii’s First Congressional district. I will continue to work hard to represent the people of Hawaii,” Takai said.
There were several hundred people in attendance at Takai’s election night party. Takai was joined by his wife Sami and their two children, Matthew and Kaila. Federal delegates Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and Senator Mazie Hirono also came by to congratulate Rep. Takai on his primary victory. Mayor Kirk Caldwell was in attendance to congratulate Takai as well.
“I am humbled by the outpouring of support that my family and I received and we know that we could not have gotten here without you. You gave of your time, skills, sweat and hard earned money to get us here today. It may be my name on the ballot, but it is all of you who deserve the praise,” Takai concluded.
